I always look on the Kihon Happo as the building blocks of the Bujinkan taijutsu. As Soke has often admonished the eight techniques give rise to an infinite number of henka, or variations. These henka are linked by nagare (flow) and taisabaki (body technique) so the practitioner can unleash their potential.

Different dojo around the world often teach a slightly different version of the Kihon Happo. The Bujinkan Enfield Dojo will teach what I have gleaned as the ‘Bujinkan’ Kihon Happo as taught to me by Peter King, Chris Roworth and Ishizuka Sensei over the last 25 or so years. It consists of:

Kosshi Kihon Sanpo - These are three striking techniques which teach different strikes and distancing done from 3 different kamae (body positions).

Torite Kihon Kata Goho - These are 5 'grappling' techniques.
